PROBLEM: " 'Exception EDBEngine Error
in Module Chexp.Exe' (or something similar in a popup window)
when I try to run ChecksNet."
CAUSE #1: You do not have a laser or inkjet
printer installed and set as Default Printer.
SOLUTION:
1. Install ANY inkjet or laser printer. Make and model doesn't matter, however
some Hp printer drivers are known to conflict
with software as mentioned above.
Note: You can install and print to any printer
connnected to your computer or network. However,
ChecksNet will always select and show your
Default Printer when you are ready to print
a check or bank draft. Simply select a different
printer from the drop-down list when you
prefer a different printer.
IMPORTANT: A laser or inkjet printer MUST be designated
as your DEFAULT printer. ChecksNet will not
open or run if you have designated something
like a PDF or Fax as your default printer.
CAUSE #2: Other software is blocking ChecksNet.
SOLUTION:
1. START>RUN>Type in sysedit.
2. Click OK. Select the win.ini tab.
3. Scroll down until you see a heading labeled [IDAPI].
4. Delete the [IDAPI] heading and the one or two lines directly below it.
5. If you had an older version of ChexNow or ChecksNet installed, you should also look
for a heading [ChecksNet] or [ChexNow] and delete it and the lines directly below it.
6. Save the changes you made to the win.ini file.
7. Close all the open windows on your desktop.
8. Reboot your computer.
9. Re-install ChecksNet.
CAUSE #3: Hp printer drivers are blocking
ChecksNet.
SOLUTION:
1. START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>ADD/REMOVE
PROGRAMS
2. Uninstall all the Hp Deskjet printer drivers
3. Close all the open windows on your desktop.
4. Reboot your computer.
5. Re-install ChecksNet.
Note: Hp printer drivers have been known
to cause problems with other hardware &
software on many computers so removing them
might eliminate other headaches for you.
If you suspect as such, scan your entire
hard drive for any filenames containing HPZ
and remove them. From our experiences and
feedback from customers, those are your likely
culprits. Update 2009: Thinking that Hp might have issued a newer
printer driver for the Photosmart 1000 through
1300 series that resolved problems with prior
drivers, we downloaded 3511_enu_w2k_xp_release.exe from the Hp website. The latest driver would
not install on a Windows Xp Pro system that
has never had a problem installing or running
ANY other Hp printer drivers or printer drivers
from any other printer manufacturer.
BEST ADVICE:
We highly suggest using a Dell, Lexmark,
Okidata, Samsung or Xerox black & white
laser printer ( not an inkjet printer) to
print checks and even your other documents
because from our years of experience, their
software causes less computer problems, the
printers run faster (print more pages per
minute) and the cost of using a black &
white laser printer is MUCH lower than the
cost of inkjet cartridges.
PROBLEM: " 'I need to re-install ChecksNet and I need
the password and/or replacement software"
CAUSE: Hard drive crash or moving ChecksNet to a new computer.
SOLUTION:
1. If you purchased ChecksNet
within the past 90 days, simply email us with Date of Purchase and Purchaser Name(s).
2. If you purchased ChecksNet over 90 days
ago, your password and backup copy of the
software have been deleted from our files.
We can assist you by providing the latest
edtion of ChecksNet. You'll receive the FULL
new edition but only pay the upgrade price.
If you have retained the data from your previous
installation (such as the folder named C:\Program
Files\Checks16, C:\Program Files\Checks10
or C:\Program Files\cnet41p) we'll also provide instructions on how
to quickly import your old data and regain your old check or draft layouts. To order the upgrade,
go to Upgrade Order and select ChecksNet 17 upgrade from ChecksNet
16. If you had ChecksNet 15 select ChecksNet
17 upgrade from ChecksNet 15. All older editions
require purchase of full new ChecksNet 17
which you can order at Orders
IMPORTANT: If you are trying to install on
a computer with a 64bit version of Windows,
you MUST have Microsoft's Virtual & Xp add-ons or 3rd party software such as VMplayer
PROBLEM: " I have an HP Printer and ChecksNet won't install or run as it should."
CAUSE: Faulty printer drivers from Hewlett-Packard
for the HP 892, 900 series, PhotoSmart 100,
1000, 1100, 1200, 1300 plus some newer PhotoSmart
and older DeskJet series printers.
SOLUTION: Many retailers including Best Buy are aware
of Hp printer driver problems. They may be
able to suggest a different driver to use
for your particular Hp printer. Here is the
link to the latest Hp PhotoSmart Drivers Download Page
You can also try selecting a different printer
as your Default Printer in Windows. You can
select ANY of the other printers already
installed on your computer or you can add
a new printer like a Canon BubbleJet 200.
You do not need to actually have a 2nd printer
attached to your computer.
Go through the Windows Add Printer process
(Start>Settings>Printer>Add Printer)
and select the other printer as your Default.
You should then be able to install and use
ChecksNet without interference from the faulty
HP driver. While using ChecksNet you should
manually select the HP printer to physically
print your checks or drafts before actual
printing (File>Printer Setup). Note: These
faulty HP drivers may also interfere with
other software you have now or in the future
so you should visit the HP website until
they post new drivers that resolve the problems.
Note: Hp printer drivers have been known
to cause problems with other hardware &
software on many computers so removing them
might eliminate other headaches for you.
If you suspect as such, scan your entire
hard drive for any filenames containing HPZ
and remove them. From our experiences and
feedback from customers, those are your likely
culprits.
BEST ADVICE:
We highly suggest using a Dell, Lexmark,
Okidata, Samsung or Xerox black & white
laser printer ( not an inkjet printer) to
print checks and even your other documents
because from our years of experience, their
software causes less computer problems, the
printers run faster (print more pages per
minute) and the cost of using a black &
white laser printer is MUCH lower than the
cost of inkjet cartridges.
PROBLEM: " I have anti-virus or firewall software running
and ChecksNet won't install as it should."
CAUSE: Norton, Symantec, McAfee, AVG plus
other anti-virus and firewall softwares are
notorious for blocking the installation of
many softwares, including ChecksNet.
SOLUTION: Turn off, de-activate or uninstall the anti-virus
or firewall software. Reboot before installing
ChecksNet. You can re-install or re-activate
the anti-virus or firewall software AFTER
you have ChecksNet installed and running
properly. If reinstalling the anti-virus
or firewall software damages ChecksNet, you'll
know for sure that your anti-virus or firewall
software is faulty and will likely cause
you other computer problems in the future.
NOTE: Anti-virus softwares (especially some of
the free ones) can slow down an entire computer
system and when you try to uninstall them,
they leave remnants behind so we strongly
suggest creating a System Restore Point before you install ANY anti-virus or firewall
softwares.

PROBLEM: " I open ChecksNet and see normal numbers instead of MICR font &
symbols at bottom of check or draft window."
SOLUTION: It's a Windows bug or you have another conflicting MICR font installed. You can manually install the MICR font AFTER you check to be sure you don't have a conflicting font. Go START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>FONTS scroll and look for any font that starts with the letters "MICR." If you find any, delete them (right-click, delete). If a pop-up says font is locked, reboot your computer which will then allow you to delete it. To install the ChecksNet MICR font manually: Go START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>FONTS>FILE>Install New Font. In the Folders window go to C:\Program Files\Checks17. In the List of Fonts window highlight MICR (True Type) and then click OK. Now open ChecksNet and you should see the MICR symbols and numerals as in photo below.
PROBLEM: " I see the MICR numerals & symbols in ChecksNet but my printed checks have 'regular' numbers"
CAUSE: Incorrect printer setting or faulty printer
driver.
SOLUTION: Go into your printer set-up: START>SETTINGS>PRINTERS.
ChecksNet always uses your Default Printer
unless you manually select another printer
each time you make checks or drafts. Right
-click your Default Printer (or one you're
using for ChecksNet) to see the Properties
Tabs. Look for a tab that lets you change
"Print Truetype as Graphics" or
vice versa. Change that setting.
If this isn't available or the change does
not resolve the problem, contact your printer
manufacturer or go to their web site to look
for a newer printer driver. We continually
test ChecksNet with many makes and models
of new printers. Unfortunately some manufacturers
sell new printers before they have removed
bugs from printer drivers or have drivers
for latest versions of Windows.

PROBLEM: "I'm running Windows 2000 and
ChecksNet 17 will not install or run properly."
CAUSE: Windows 2000 had compatibility problems
which were corrected when Microsoft released
Service Packs 1 and 2.
SOLUTION: Install Service Packs 1 and 2 and then install
ChecksNet 17. You can download the Service Packs from Microsoft's
website: Windows 2000 Service packs
PROBLEM: "I'm trying to use ChecksNet
17 on a networked system and it won't run."
CAUSE: Unless you've purchased our Network Edition,
you have the Single-User edition which will
not run on a network.
SOLUTION: Purchase our Network Pro Edition or install ChecksNet on a system not connected to the network.
PROBLEM: "Can't find SAVE button."
|
CAUSE: Your monitor is probably in the 640x480dpi
mode and your Windows toolbar is at the bottom
of your screen. ChecksNet 17 is designed
for a minimum setting of 800x600dpi. |
|
PROBLEM: "I want a payment page on my website that automatically links to ChecksNet"
SOLUTIONS: You have several choices:
1. Get your Internet Service Provider to
create one for you. Most charge an upfront
fee and monthly fees for "shopping cart"
services.
2. Hire a Web Designer. Going rate seems
to be $100/hour. Project could easily cost
you thousands.
3. Upgrade to our Online Payment System edition. We do all the work for you &
even provide payment page on a SSL secure server hosted with the best 24/7 reliability and support.
You only pay the price difference for the
upgrade IF you do so within 30 days of your
original purchase.

PROBLEM: "I'm using the e-Mail AutoImport. When
I go to print bank drafts, only the signature
line appears."
SOLUTION: Every record MUST have a Style Number assigned to it or ChecksNet doesn't know how you want the bank draft or check to look. Your website order form page either has the wrong Style Number or it is missing. Open your Order Form page in an HTML editor or Wordpad. Look near the bottom. You should see this line:
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="StyleNo" VALUE="43">
If not, add it. The "43" value
indicates the draft will be printed using
the DEFAULT layout. If you prefer one of
your other layouts, here is the list of Style
Numbers that are assigned to the other pre-made
layouts that came with your software. Simply
substitute/use the number you want:
42 Quicken
43 Default
45 QuickBooks
47 Wallet-Size Draft
48 Microsoft Money
49 Simply Money
50 Managing Your Money
51 Peachtree
52 Your custom-made layout.
53 .. Your other custom-made layouts.

PROBLEM: "When I try to run ChecksNet I get
a screen that says the database is locked."
SOLUTION: ChecksNet's database is designed to operate in a full multi-user, networked environment. Thus, there has to be one single PDOXUSRS.NET file that all users point to on the network. To find the extra .NET file or files, use your Windows FileFind in Explorer. Be sure you have set to show all hidden files and with the file extensions set to ON. You can delete ALL you find. The next time you run ChecksNet a fresh new PDOXUSRS.NET file should be created for you.

PROBLEM: "When I try to run ChecksNet I get
a popup that says Record already locked by
this session"
SOLUTION: This simply means you forgot to click SAVE while you were editing a record from the main window. Close the Print window, and click SAVE from main window.
PROBLEM: "After I printed check(s) or bank draft(s) I click Report button from main toolbar and popup says I did not print any check(s) or draft(s) today"
CAUSE1: This simply means you forgot to click SAVE
while you were editing a record from the
main window.
SOLUTION1: Close the Print window, and click SAVE from
main window.
CAUSE2: This can also mean that one or more of your
database records is corrupted.
SOLUTION2: Find record(s) in your database with incorrect
data in one or more fields. Examples: Check
Number field can only have numerals (no letters).
Date field can only have numerals and forward
slashes (no letters, backward slashes or
other symbols). Amount field can only have
numerals and a period.
PROBLEM: "I'm running Windows 2000 and
ChecksNet 17 will not install or run properly."
CAUSE: Some releases of Windows 2000 had compatibility
problems which were corrected when Microsoft released Service Packs.
SOLUTION: Install Service Pack 3 and then install
ChecksNet 17. You can download the Service Packs from Microsoft's website: Windows 2000 Service packs
PROBLEM: "I'm running Windows 7 and
want to know if ChecksNet 17 will install
or run properly."
SOLUTION: ChecksNet 17 will run in all 32bit versions
of Windows Vista or Windows 7 without addditional
add-ons.
Note: Administrator Settings MUST have the box checkmarked to "Run as
an administrator."
If you have a Professional, Enterprise or
Ultimate 64 Bit Edition of Windows Vista
or 7, you can download a FREE Microsoft Virtual & Xp add-on . You can also use a 3rd party application
such as VMware Player from VMware to run ChecksNet under ANY 64bit
version of Windows 7.
Note: Unless your computer specifically says
you have a 64 bit edition, your Windows 7
or Vista is a 32bit edition.
IMPORTANT: Administrator Setting may require the box
checkmarked to "Run as an administrator."
PRINTER WARNING: Some Hp laser printers may not run properly
in Windows 7. Since a properly running printer
is required for ChecksNet, we suggest visiting
the website of your printer manufacturer
if you have ANY problems printing under Windows
7.
PROBLEM: "Some of the fields (data) on my checks (or
bank drafts) are either missing or partially
cut-off when I print checks or drafts."
Cause & Solution #1: Margin settings on some printers. It can
be corrected by going into PRINTER SETUP
window for the printer you have selected.
Change the margin settings or the number
of lines per page and/or the page frame size.
You can also cure this by moving the fields
in your Styles Layout window of ChecksNet.
If things are getting cut off from the top,
lower your accountholder name, bank name,
or check number fields. If things are cut
off or missing from the sides, move fields
left or right (closer in). If the MICR line
is missing from your bottom check, move the
entire MICR line up. This is why we made
every field movable in ChecksNet .
Cause & Solution #2: Wrong check forms. If you purchased forms
made by My Checks or other suppliers, they
may be the wrong size. Our ChecksForms meet
banking industry standards which are followed
by Quicken, QuickBooks, Money, Peachtree
and most other accounting software. To work
properly with ChecksNet, business-size forms
must have three checks that are each exactly
3.5 inches high and a half inch high scrap
strip at bottom of the sheet. Wallet-size
checks must be 2-7/8" high with a 2-3/8"
high scrap strip at bottom of sheet.
Cause & Solution #3: Printer Settings. Go START>Settings>Printers
& Faxes. Highlight the printer you are
using to print checks or drafts. Right-click
and enter Properties. Look for any setting
that allows you to change to "Graphics"
and make that change (such as Print Truetype
as Graphics or vice versa). If you can't
find this setting, contact the User Guide
or manufacturer of your printer for further
assistance.
Cause & Solution #4: You may have tried to enter data in one of
the fields that is not allowed. Example:
Entering letters or symbols in the CheckNumber
Field (upper right box of Main Window). That
field only allows numerals ( 0 through 9,
not letters A through Z).
